– It's going to last over three hours with all the big hits you've been waiting for – announces Ron Chamberlain, director of Live Nation Global Touring.
Final preparations are underway before this big event. The scene has already been defined. It is located on the long side closer to the stadium's east stall.
-We began construction of the scene on the morning of July 4th. This work lasted three days, 12 hours a day. The stage runs a short distance, where musicians can join the audience, which will be about 2 meters apart – said Sławek Raczek, production manager of Live Nation Polska.
– We have two scenes, one is on the way from Leipzig, where we played yesterday, the second series here. Another scene goes to Oslo, and finally we will reach the beautiful city of Gothenburg. And then we'll have a few weeks break. It took us three days to build this scene. We were helped by about 150 wonderful employees from here. 125 people working full-time in four teams are employed to provide the service – adds Ron Chamberlain, director of Live Nation Global Touring.
On the one and the other side of the stage are huge screens over 20 meters high, where you can watch what's happening on the stage. At the back of the stage will also be a large screen that can be seen from anywhere in the stadium where the audience will be.
– We distribute sound, lighting and video equipment in 20 trucks. And the structure of the scene in the next 16 – reveals Ron Chamberlain, production manager of Live Nation Global Touring.
It was necessary to secure the Silesian stadium base. This week, 24 trucks arrived with special mats and plates that covered the grass and the track. In total, about 5,000 people were placed square meters of panels that covered the stadium plaque. Nearly 500-600 people worked on this work (preparations, stage construction, security of the stadium).
The organizers did not want to reveal to which hotel Axl Rose, Slash and company would stay. It is known that for each member of the team a separate wardrobe has been prepared according to their preferences. There is furniture and even the color of the walls, which corresponds to the stars. It is only late in the evening of July 8 that the musicians lived at the hotel Katowice Monopol. They arrived from the airport of Pyrzowice, where the aircraft of the team of Guns N Roses landed.
The group's performance in Chorzów is part of a dozen concerts that will take place this year as part of the tour "Not In This Lifetime Tour". After the concert inaugurating the route of June 3 at the Berlin Olympiastadion, the cult group will play, among others in Denmark, Great Britain, France, Italy, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, in Norway, Sweden, Germany and Poland.
The last concert of the world format at the Silesian stadium took place in 2009, when the U2 group performed on stage in Chorzów. The largest stage and the biggest concerts were just before the modernization of the Silesian stadium.
– We are starting a very good concert. The stage and the sound system are impressive. It will be a sensational party. Another big event at the Silesian stadium on August 22nd. The 9th edition of the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial will take place here – said Krzysztof Klimosz, President of the Silesian Stadium.
