Astronauts aboard the International Space Station continue to send beautiful photos of the Earth, the Moon, other planets of our galaxy and several other space objects. But sometimes the images appear as more than just staggering; they seem almost surreal and the astronaut Alexander Gerst of the European Space Agency has recently shared such a lunar portrait with the public.
He broke the picture during his current mission at the laboratory floating in space and it is absolutely spectacular. This is the second mission of Alexander Gerst at the International Space Station
The image of our only and unique natural satellite taken by Gerst shows the moon partly hidden in the darkness and a blue glow seems to compensate for the darkness; it almost seems like the blue hue radiates from an off-screen Earth.
The ESA shared the image of the moon with a post, which talks about how again several countries, as India, China, Japan, the United States and Russia, plan lunar missions in the near future.
ESA itself has a number of lunar missions.
