  • Sebastian Vettel proved to be the fastest on the Silverstone track
  • Lewis Hamilton was second, although he was at the end of the picket
  • Williams driver again, who took the last two places

between Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel aroused tremendous emotions during this year's competition at Silverstone. The Briton, backed by thousands of his compatriots, wanted to win at this location for the fifth time in a row and sixth in his career, and the German had the intention of thwarting his rivals with his nose at home.

The departure, to the despair of the local favorite local public, that Vettel and his partner Valtteri Bottas doubled. A moment later, the British also attacked Kimi Raikkonen, including contact with the 33-year-old car, which resulted in the current world champion being out of the race. The Mercedes driver returned to the tour, but almost immediately informed his team that he had a damaged car back.

Haas's representatives were also poor, after a successful time they fell to inferior positions. On the other hand, Carlos Sainz (Renault) went from the end of the stages to the top ten. In the last places, apart from Hamilton and Sergio Perez (Force India), who also marked a powerful turn just after the start, there were Williams players. Siergiej Sirotkin and Lance Stroll both left the pit lane, after Grove's team returned to the previous version of the rear wing by breaking the rules of the parc fermé.

Brendon Hartley was also starting to compete with the pit lane. that he had to withdraw from the race just after the start. Meanwhile, Hamilton was doing his homework. The four-time world champion after five rounds was already in tenth place. The referees decided to punish Raikkonen with ten more seconds for the collision at the start of the competition

In the twelfth round Hamilton attacked Nico Huelkenberg (Renault) and in front of the German, he was in the top six. The loss of leader Vettel however was more than 27 seconds. In the second Bottas, Germany was less than six seconds ahead

After fourteen rounds, Raikkonen decided to set up new tires, which he had previously announced the punishment. Fina did not mention the front wing, which according to the popular "Iceman" was supposed to be damaged. After returning to the track, the former world champion was in tenth position, but quickly dealt with a few rivals and moved quickly to sixth place.

After visiting the Red Bull pit, Hamilton moved into the top three. Meanwhile, after the failure of Sauber mechanics, Charles Leclerc said goodbye, in whose car one of the wheels was loosely tightened. Such problems were missed by Vettel, who appeared in the 21st round on the Avenue. Moments later, Bottas, the vice-champion of the race, does the same.

On the 25th track, Hamilton appears in the pit lane. The British team rolled out without major problems, but that did not change the situation of the 33-year-old man who, as expected, took the track as the sixth – for Raikkonen, to whom he had twelve seconds of losses. Interestingly, it was in the first two places, where Bottett was getting closer to Vettel

Hamilton was rolling at a faster and faster pace, approaching Raikkonen very quickly. Unexpectedly, Daniel Ricciardo came to the pits for the second time, thanks to which the Australian dropped to sixth place. A moment later, however, there was a massive crash of Marcus Ericsson (Sauber). The Swede at the open wing DRS with a huge boost fell off the track and smashed his car on the tapes.

This situation resulted in the appearance of a safety car on the track, which several pilots were using to install new tires. For such a move, they decided, among others Vettel, Raikkonen and Verstappen, who formed a soft mix. Mercedes representatives did not come to their mechanics while staying on the indirect tires.

In the 37th round, the neutralization period ended, which was automatically used by Bottas, who kept Vettel behind. Hamilton was right behind the first two. Seconds later, Raikkonen and Verstappen clashed in a good fight for fourth place. The Finn has surpassed his rival, but the Dutchman has quickly regained his lost position. Meanwhile, Romain Grosjean and Carlos Sainz face a collision that eliminates the duo mentioned above

The referees have again decided to release a safety car on the track, which left the track for ten circles before the line of arrival. Once again, Bottas is well maintained after resuming the race, now Vettel behind. Germany, a few moments later, fiercely attacked Fina, who showed an effective defense. Such a maneuver did not succeed Verstappen. The 20-year-old lost his fourth place in favor of Raikkonen

A moment later, the Finn attacked Hamilton, but he could not find himself in front of the Brit. Vettel also failed in the attack, which still could not double Bottas. Five times before the end of the competition, the quadruple world champion finally reached his and managed to find himself in front of the Mercedes representative. Meanwhile, Verstappen fell off the track, landing in a gravel trap and falling in the top ten. Shortly after, the 20-year-old had to withdraw completely from the British competition.

Four wheels before the finish line Bottas gave Hamilton the second position so he could fight with Vettel. A few dozen seconds later, Fina was ahead of Raikkonen and Ricciardo was right behind him. In the end, however, the Australian failed to get the 28 year old. There was no change in the other top positions either. Thus, Sebastian Vettel won the Grand Prix of Great Britain.

For the Ferrari driver, who advanced his lead in the overall eight-point standings, he finished the last four editions of this fight, Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen. In future posts, apart from the Bottas and Ricciardo mentioned, there were Nico Huelkenberg, Esteban Ocon (Force India), Kevin Magnussen (Haas), Fernando Alonso (McLaren) and Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso). In addition to the top ten, Sergio Perez, Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren) and the Williams duo – Lance Stroll and Sergei Sirotkin have been ranked.

There are now two weeks off before Formula One. Another race weekend is scheduled for July 20-22. Then, the queen of motorsport will come to Germany. The last race behind our western border took place in 2016. At that time, Lewis Hamilton enjoyed the victory. Next to the British Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen were on the podium
