A few months ago, the authors of the permanent exhibition MEW (Prof. Paweł Machcewicz, Prof. Rafał Wnuk, Dr. Janusz Marszalec and Dr. Piotr Majewski) filed a lawsuit against current management of the Gdańsk Museum in Gdańsk. They call for the restoration of the permanent exhibition of the MILWŚ in the original state.
The current director of the permanent exhibition does not want to hear about it. Already a few months ago several changes were introduced in the institution that he manages. One of the most characteristic corrections was the removal of the film that crowns the permanent exhibition of the Museum and its replacement by the materials of the National Memory Institute. But there were more such changes and they concerned The figure of Captain Pilecki or Irena Sendlerowa
Director Nawrocki commented on the trial as follows: – By Paweł Machcewicz, nearly 30 years after the fall of communism, heroes Polish as Irena Sendler, Polish WMG, victims of Soviet crimes from 1937, or Captain Witold Pilecki, to appear in the consciousness of guests of the Museum of the Second World War, must be the subject of a judiciary process. I do not know if Machcewicz realizes the responsibility that he has taken on himself, fighting for his private cause (losing his position) by using unique Polish heroes. I will be proud to defend my case in court – he announced.
Today, prof. Machcewicz, who before dr. Nawrockim was the director of MIIWŚ, he sent a statement to the media. It reads: "We believe that the World War II Museum exhibition is a national and general good, we defend it against political interference, which destroys the exhibition created for eight years of work by the greatest Polish and world historians. thousands – and in the following years, millions – more visitors, from Poland and from abroad, should have the opportunity to become familiar with the exhibition in its original form and to forge a personal opinion.
in the Gdańsk District Court. The authors of the lawsuit demand that the current MIIWŚ authorities also issue an apology in connection with the copyright infringement. The defendant, Dr. Nawrocki, will also pay $ 10,000. PLN for one of the associations in Gdansk
