Selling and buying farmland will be easier. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is working on new regulations that relax the current limits – informs Rzeczpospolita.
In the countryside, everyone can buy a hectare of agricultural land, but not as much as 30 acres. In the cities, the agricultural land trade will be free of restrictions.
Until now, only a farmer meeting certain criteria could acquire the land.

A law that does not work
In the justification for the amendment of the law, the plaintiffs admit that the provisions adopted in 2016 did not have the desired effect.
The amended regulations did not limit the acquisition of land by foreigners in Poland and did not stop the rise in prices of agricultural land.
In the case of cities, the change in regulations is dictated by problems in obtaining land for investment. In other cases, the new law will facilitate not only the purchase of land, but also their division in case of divorce or sale by a bailiff. Currently, he has to look for a farmer who will buy a occupied land.
Absurd provisions
The law introduced by PiS two years ago did not work. A person who is not an individual farmer but who wishes to buy land must apply for a permit. They provide its national agricultural support centers.

So that means that 75 percent the transaction could take place anyway – without prolonging the entire process unnecessarily. Buyers may have been waiting for a positive decision from KOWR for several months.
