March is the most important month for retirees. It is at this point that the evaluation of long-term benefits takes place

"How is this possible?", "It's probably a mistake". This is the reaction of some Poles to the letters ZUS. They wonder why their pension forecasts have fallen this year. And it's a few hundred zlotys. We translate how to read a letter from the Social Insurance Institution

– I would like to share the information I just received from ZUS. It turns out that I have been working needlessly for the past two years. Why? The capital increased and the expected pension decreased by about 200 PLN. I have not worked for so many years to be hungry – our reader, Mr. Henryk, wonders.

He contacted us via the Dziejesie.wp.pl form and sent his retirement forecast. He does not hide the fact that the letter amused him. And he was angry at the same time

And not only was he surprised by the delivery of ZUS

– A year ago, they had me foretelling a higher retirement , now lower. I do not understand any of this, but in total I was not willing to read anymore. In the list, the thicket of paid contributions, and little explanation. Why worry about this? I will not change much. Just know that the pension will be small. I abandoned the letter and I threw it because the first thing I thought was an error of the Social Insurance Institution (Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych). I will be worried later – comments Dorota, who is 57 years old and retiring

The years go away, the predictions go down

How is it possible that years of extra work and systematic contributions lead to lower forecasts than in the previous lists? of the Social Insurance Institution? All the merit (or fault) of the deputies

Henryk has collected 500,000. retirement, he has two years of retirement – he is 63 years old. Henryk did not tell us exactly how much of his initial capital was collected (working before 1999) and where he put it on OFE. But a simple calculation shows what is happening.

If Henryk retires at the age of 65, he predicts that he will have 218 months of life (that is, that he will reach the end of his life). age 83). His performance will rise to 2.2 thousand. zł. When he retired at the age of 67, he would have 200 months of life (and more retirement capital). The result? 2,5 thousand

The amounts in the letters sent by ZUS are, of course, only estimates and should therefore be treated. Why? It is impossible to assume that no one will receive an increase for the next 10, 15 or 20 years. And the letter assumes, for example, to further influence the contributions of the same amount. In practice, any job change already significantly modifies the forecast. In addition, the amounts shown in the lists are subject to indexation.

What is in the letter?

Moreover, it is necessary to recall how to correctly read the information sent by the Social Insurance Institution

]

In the first three points, we find information on the total amount of contributions paid throughout our career.

  • "Initial capital" – here the amount will appear only for persons who worked and were insured before 1999. This money is subject to valuation
  • The second point concerns the total value of contributions paid to ZUS from January 1999 to December 2017.
  • The last point concerns the amount that our employer has transferred to the Money Plant in 2017. The amount below is broken down into individual months. If one of them shows "0" and we are working, we should hear the alarm tone. Most likely, the employer cheated on us and did not pay the membership fee.

Below you will find information about the status of the subaccount. As far as we have them. They were created in May 2011 and include only those born after 1968 or older, but those owned by the OFE. The next page is the exact indication of how much money we have on the subaccount, and how much in the OFE.

After reading all the above data, we reach the most important. This is, of course, the forecast of your future retirement. The list presents four forecasts – based on all contributions and whether we will continue to work. The ZUS shows what would happen to our pension if we stopped earning money this year

At the same time, the Social Insurance Institution did not remember the letter right next to the calculations on the change of age of retirement. Thus, some people may be really surprised by the particular information differences.
