Hundreds of people witness a shootout in the center of the United States

The American Meteor Society received over 270 reports of a fireball that was hanging in the air on July 8th.

AMS felt that the fireball had a shallow entrance angle. This would mean that the fireball may have simply grazed on Earth at a close but safe distance. Many witnesses, however, stated that the fireball had disintegrated at some point. If this were true, it would mean that the fireball actually entered the earth's atmosphere without being detected before landing.

Streaks of Fireball in the Central United States

According to reports submitted, AMS estimated the path of the Des Moines fireball, running southeast just across the river in Illinois. Most of those who saw the fireball were people located in Iowa and Illinois. The fireball has also been seen in Minnesota, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin. There was a report that came as far as Cleveland and a few others from Minneapolis to St. Louis.

While the July 8 fireball excited party-goers, AMS said that this heavenly event is very common in space. A fireball can graze on any planet in an average interval of 20 hours

What is exactly a fireball

AMS defines the fireball as an extremely bright meteor, as bright as Venus when he appears as a morning or evening star. 19659002] NASA defines a meteoroid as a small particle coming from a comet or asteroid orbiting the sun. A meteorite, on the other hand, is a meteorite that survives its passage through the Earth's atmosphere and lands on its surface. A meteor, meanwhile, is the light seen when a meteoroid enters the surface of the Earth.

Steven Spangler, an astronomer from the University of Iowa, said the fireball was a meteor of the same size as a baseball. It is more appropriate to call it fireball because it burns a lot more than the average meteor.

Spangler assured that the fireball did not cause significant damage. It may have broken into smaller pieces and may, in fact, have not landed on Earth after all. He also explained that there is no scientific reason why the fireball crossed the signaled path, specifically in Iowa, other than pure coincidence.

"It's just, they're random shooters and they're just going to hit here sooner or later.I think these meteors are moving all over the Earth … they hit everywhere, it was just our (Iowa) number was up, "he said.
