The position of large format stores on the Polish market is weakening. The news is sporadically opened and sales at current factories are falling systematically.

The value of hypermarket business turnover fell below PLN 30 billion and, according to Euromonitor International, it will decline by another 2.5% next year. – writes "Rzeczpospolita."

For comparison, the turnover of a single popular discount network in Poland is PLN 48 billion – the daily suggests. Customers prefer smaller and closer stores. Euromonitor International indicates that the effect of a fast life style, the increase in the number of small households and changes in customer preferences are caused by the problems of large format stores.

This does not mean that their formula is exhausted and that they have no place in the Polish market, says the President of the Polish Organization of Commerce and Distribution, Renata Juszkiewicz. Their capital is still large car parks, which are used by other customers and the area that they can sublet, for example, service companies or gastronomy.

One thing is certain, traditional hypermarkets have to change to fight for customers. The opportunity is a multichannel sales model and new technologies.
