The Barometer of Job Opportunities (BOP), calculated by the Office of Investment and Business Cycle (BIEC), has declined significantly over the past month. As the experts point out, the decline in the indicator has continued almost since the beginning of this year, but so far, it has not been so important.

Economists note that weakening the impact of cyclical impulses on the vacancy market confirms the changes in registered unemployment. After excluding unemployed workers who are exclusively seasonal workers, the unemployment rate rose for the first time since May 2017. The BIEC report shows that in July the number of vacancies fell in all voivodeships, without exception. The economic slowdown had the most impact on the number of job offers for representatives of professions requiring training in social and legal sciences. Excluding seasonal work, only the number of franchise and insurance offers increased in July.

The smallest reduction in vacancies was found in the human resources, consulting and work occupations group in procurement services.

Job vacancies for representatives of most categories of scientific and technical occupations are also slowing down. Among them, the increase in vacancies was recorded in July only in the energy and construction sectors. In addition, the energy sector is the only category of this group of offers to show a net increase throughout the current year.
