On Tuesday evening, PGE volleyball players Skra Bełchatów in the second match of the world club championships in Płock won Fakel Nowy Urengoy. The Polish team had to aim for victory to extend their hopes of leaving the group and qualifying for the Final Four in Częstochowa. Despite a 2-0 record in the heat and 19:13 in the third match, the opponent was finally better in 3: 2 and secured a pass in the final.
The Russian team beat Zenit Kazan after a breakaway and PGE Skra lost 1: 3 against Cucine Lube Civitanova and needed a break.
The first set was very equal and his fate was settled in the end. Both teams presented a high level and the exchange of coup for blow lasted until 8:20 pm. Then, the initiative was taken over by Bełchatów, who scored two points in a row in two consecutive sets, beating 24:21. Camillio Placi's charges, however, would not be dropped. The triple block of Russians stopped on the left wing of Mariusz Wlazły and on the bright PGE Skra board, he had only one advantage (24:23). Fortunately for the Polish team, Dmitry Wołkow was broken and the same team, Roberto Piazzy, won the first set.
Irritated vice-champions of the Russian high-impact Super League began the second installment in which they took the lead 7: 3. Skra volleyball players have not been able to adopt quality service, but they have presented themselves well. Mainly thanks to this element, we could quickly draw 11:11. Fans have once again witnessed a fierce competition that lasted until the end. After the service of Artur Szalpuk and the finished opponent Milada Ebadipura, the Polish champions jumped on two points (23:21). However, it was not possible to maintain this lead, which meant a game of superiority. Jakub Kochanowski became the hero, who sent a terribly powerful game, which the rivals did not succeed, giving the triumph to their team.
The third part has been very one-sided for a long time. After two defeated sets, Urengoy's volleyball players lost their mind, which was carefully used by Bełchatów. The Polish team had almost everything in this episode, and Kochanowski and Szalpuk showed their performances during the show. The advantage of Skra was already seven stitches and it seemed that nothing would go wrong for the representative of the PlusLiga. In the service of Wołkowa Fakieł, however, he made up for the losses. Their series has reduced the gap to a point. The tradition has been fulfilled and the public of the Płock Hall has experienced the nervous end for the third time. There was no measure in the predominance of emotions. Artur Szalpuk, who did not use the passing ball, missed a great opportunity to finish the match. Shortly after, he took his revenge, as Fakieł appeared, who used one of the counterparts and extended the meeting.
The scenario of the third set made that the Russians had the wind in the sails. Almost from the beginning of the fourth edition, they achieved a solid breakthrough, which they did not abandon until the end, despite the ambitious attempts of the Bełchatów family. In the PGE Skra team, there was fatigue and Szalpuk did not show up on the dance floor. He has already complained of leg pain during the previous evening. Roberto Piazza gave the alternatives a chance, but you could not make up for the losses. Tiebreak had to decide the fate of this match.
In the decisive part, Skra developed a few points advantage on the Wlazły website, but it was not a decisive moment as Fakieł had managed to close the Polish team's high lead. As in previous sets, everything is arranged in the end. Fakieł had more luck, and before midnight, he got a 3-2 win and a promotion to the Final Four. Skra, his third group match with Zenit Kazan will only play for prestige.
