Lidl Polska was removed from the paprika shelves due to exceeding the permissible level of the chemical compound named Ethephon. It can cause, among other things, stomach problems.

Lidl's internal studies have shown that the permissible level of ethephon has been exceeded. In connection with the above, the company Lidl Polska has decided to withdraw from the market the product "Pepper sweet, luz" with lot number L 28/07, which was sold on 17-21 July 2018 – the company declared in a statement.

How Ethephon was explained (Etphone) can cause mild and transient symptoms such as more frequent urination, diarrhea. "Given the above, it is not advisable to continue to consume the product" – added

The network points out that the goods purchased on July 17-21, 2018 are subject to refund. This item can be returned to any Lidl store upon presentation of the receipt, and the price of its purchase will be refunded. The return of the product applies only to the product "Soft pepper, loose" bearing the number of lot L 28/07, sold 17-21 July 2018 All other products, including other peppers, sold by Lidl in Poland are not subject to withdrawal "- said the company.
