If one compared the Tannery of Krakow – an unexpected pastor of the First League – to a phoenix that would reborn ashes, there would be no exaggeration. The Ludwinów club before the war was the pride of Podgórze (Krakow district). He won the championship and second place of Poland. Even in the 1960s and 1970s, there were 20,000 people at the opposite Wawel Stadium.
– They were crammed on the gelding of the gelding Vistula – recalls Jerzy Jasiówka, long-time captain of "Lviv", today president and legend of the club. "Pelé de Ludwinowa". The unrest began when the people's authorities decided to demolish the stadium and replace it with a Forum hotel. At the end of February and March 1973, the demolition of the Barska Street stadium began, where Garbarnia played his games from 1926. The last match was a duel with GKS Świętochłowice in the third division.
Jerzy Jasiówka: While we were destroying the stadium, all the competitors signed the letter to the press and the municipal authorities. Nobody wanted to talk to us then. We decided to go to the first secretary. We tried three times. Milicja came and took us away. They said let go. In the end, he managed to "catch" near his headquarters. He took me to the office. He said we would have such a nice new stadium. And what? It has come to the fact that nothing has been there for more than 40 years – recalls

The edition of "Echo Krakowa" of February 26, 1975 is still kept in the club's wardrobe. On the first page, in red and black capital letters, the title reads: "A complex of sports fields and sports halls will be built in Krakow". The official promises, however, have come to an end.

City authorities are not very interested in tanneries today. This year, they brought the club record support of 40,000 zlotys. It is the smallest of the four largest clubs in Krakow. More: Wisła, Cracovia and Hutnik
The problem is also the construction of a temporary roof on the platform. This would allow the club to play conditionally in the first division of its stadium. However, the bureaucracy, the procedures and the change of law made that the roof did not start. If there are no more formal regulations on the road, construction will begin next year. Before the Tannerie found her new seat in Rydlówka, she had to wander in other stages of Krakow for years. The club was found stuck at the level of the third league, with no vision for the future. The continuous hitch caused the fans to exit. Later, after finding a new home, a fall in the fourth league came. They spent a total of seventeen seasons at the fourth level. With the proximity of Wisła and Cracovia, it was difficult to win young fans. The image of mizeria was supplemented by club debts, which amounted to 5 million zlotys a few years ago.
In 1989, the club received an area at Rydlówka Street. – There was a garbage dump. People carried debris from all over the city. The area was very uneven. In addition, the water of the nearby Wilga flooded everything because the embankments were leaking. The Siedlce brand should be considered one of the most important architects of today 's success. He is the only full – time board member, the others are passionate freelancers. The club keeper is responsible for acquiring sponsors, but he also turns off the light in the locker room after training.

The idea was simple. The tannery has created a business with one of the developers. The club donated some of the land, and the investor made money for the construction. On this cooperation, RKS earned 10 million PLN. Half of this amount went to the creditors' repayment. The rest for the construction of a new sports complex. A club, three football fields and technical facilities have been created. Such cooperation is a pioneering initiative.
The Vice President discusses club management from a very commercial and long-term perspective. Examples? He often pays for player transfers … in barter. – If we decide to have a player, we want it to be from Krakow. Then the costs of renting an apartment for him are lost. That's why we reach the players of Wisła and Cracovia – he explains. However, instead of paying in cash, he puts the Krakow rivals at the disposal of the juniors.

We ask if the club has ideas for fans. Two Krakow powers are associated, to a large extent, with fanatics who love racing cars. Maybe Tannery could become an alternative for families who want to come and watch the ball? – We would like that to happen. Sometimes we even say in the club that the abbreviation RKS (Workers Sports Club – ed.) Can be developed as a "Family Sports Club" – smiles Marek Siedlarz.
A chance to increase the popularity and reference to the former Reymont club. Jerzy Jasiówka remembers that during his game "Lions" lived in friendly relations with wiślaki.
– After the season, we celebrated our success together. My friends from these years announce that they will appear regularly on our matches in the first league – smiling President Jasiówka.

For the Ludwinowa club to conquer the hearts of new fans, there must be something to watch. The sensational promotion to the first league is in itself associated with better participation – at the end of last season the games were played by many more people than in the beginning. A long-distance pursuit for Radomiak, overtaking him in the home stretch and promotion to the playoffs for the first league, and finally promoting on the whole winning with Pogonia Siedlce. Is it time to attack the first league?
– When I was promoted to the second league last year, I met the coach and the players. At half joking I then said that promotion in first league is the easiest possible because you can get there even from fourth place. I did not think, of course, that boys would do it – smiles Marek Siedlarz.
The strong point of the team is undoubtedly the coach Mirosław Hajdo. He has experience at the first level (he trained Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza and Sandecja Nowy Sącz, he also ran Cracovia in league) and with Garbarnia he went from third to first league
The Krakow club will have the lowest budget. So, it does not seem that the beginning of the season will end with a promotion to the first league.
