The production results achieved in May were lower than 300 000. higher than last December, when monthly production reached the historical minimum

In May this year Polish mines produced nearly 5.3 million tonnes of hard coal and the volume of sales of this material approached 5.1 million tonnes. Industry (ARP). In May of last year, the volume of extraction and sales was 5.5 to 5.6 million tons.

According to data presented on Thursday, July 5, the branch of the Agency in Katowice monitors the coal market and the mining situation, the mines and sales of May were comparable to the volume of the coal production in April, when mines mined and sold only a little less coal. Previously, in March, production and sales were 5.6 million tonnes – March was the month with the highest coal mines and domestic sales this year.

Production results in May were less than 300,000. higher than in December of last year, when monthly output reached the historical minimum, falling slightly below 5 million tonnes for the first time

In December of the year. last year and January of this year. the volume of coal sales was greater than the monthly production volume of this raw material, which means that buyers also found some of the coal in stocks or deposits. However, since February, the mines have been selling less coal each month than they are extracting – this was also the case in May, when the difference between the volume of extraction and the volume sales amounted to nearly 200,000 tons. tons

Stocks of coal on the heap at the end of May this year. ARP estimates at nearly 2 million t – less than 200,000 t more than a month earlier and more than 400,000 t more than at the end of March. This means that coal mined and sold in May increased inventories. In May of last year, a comparable coal volume of over 2 million tonnes was found on slag heaps

Over the entire year, mines produced less than 65.5 million tonnes of coal, compared to 70.4 million tonnes, or nearly 4.9 million tonnes). The lowest monthly production was recorded in December (less than 5 million tonnes) and the highest (more than 5.9 million tonnes) in March and October 2017.

Last Monday, the ARP also published coal price indices. heating. In the fifth month of the year, the price of coal supplied to the energy industry was slightly lower by 0.4% than the previous month, while the price of coal for heating increased by 3%. In 1965 the value of the index for the electricity market amounted to PLN 237.20 per tonne (PLN 238.22 per tonne in April, PLN 230.75 per tonne in March and PLN 228.22). t in February), and in terms of energy gigajoule obtained from coal, the index – for the fifth time since December 2015 – has reached the value greater than 10 PLN per gigajoule. In May, it was exactly PLN 10.73 for gigajoules, compared with PLN 10.79 in April and PLN 9.64 for gigajoule in December 2017.

In the heating sector, the value of the energy consumption was the same. PSCMI2 index for thermal power plants and other domestic beneficiaries increased in May, compared to April, by almost 3 percent, reaching 303.05 zlotys per tonne, against PLN 294.68 per ton in April, PLN 297.18 per ton in March and PLN 299.16 per tonne in February. This means 12.41 PLN per gigajoule from coal energy, compared with 12.11 PLN in April and 12.23 PLN in March. This index has broken through the barrier of 300 PLN per tonne, which it has been approaching for several months
