From the beginning, it was known that this 550th anniversary was a little by force, accepting a local sejmik, that even the history experts do not remember as the beginning of our parliamentarism. But as it has already been done, it was worth celebrating this ceremony with dignity.
Meanwhile, PO, PSL and Nowoczesna were boycotting the party. It can be said that they lost little without having come Friday in the courtyard of the Royal Castle of Warsaw to listen to the message of the head of state, because it was very good. In 90% of cases, President Andrzej Duda devoted them to historical events. The remaining 10% concerned the current situation. It is hardly surprising that the opposition has not wanted to listen to the explosions, that the parliament is the place to exchange arguments and words of "no". fencing. It is known that for some time it is mainly a place of epithets exchange. But he who is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone. Platforma Obywatelska, should not be ready to launch it first, as he began to limit the parliamentary debate and replace it with a simple speech. On the other hand, PiS has courageously followed the path traced by its predecessors, so why talk about a conflict as an idea of parliamentarism.
Perhaps the chair should also refrain from commenting that the chosen authority must be respected, because respect must be earned. This is not just due to the elections won. However, the film that published the PO for the 550th anniversary of parliamentarism – a colorful and enjoyable world for the 2015 legislative elections and black and white, aggressive after the elections – is so dishonest and embarrassing. It is enough to recall the police cordon separating the Sejm from the protesters during the debate on the increase of the retirement age of the PO-PSL coalition, and not to allow the debate of Solidarity to tear off the frosting of this picture.
However, there was also a bright spot in the celebrations – contrary to expectations, the president did not mention the constitutional referendum, although the PiS deputies did not grudge. They expected Andrzej Duda to take the opportunity to discuss the idea of constitutional consultations before the Senate decides on the referendum. Meanwhile, at least, they had no dilemma or fuss after the message of the head of state, or just to applaud.
