Drivers from all over the European Union can expect a surprise. As of October 2018, the EU directive introducing new brands of liquid fuels will become effective. What does it mean?

The directive, which will come into force on October 12, aims to help drivers avoid any mistakes during refueling. In practice, this means introducing uniform markings at distributors in EU countries. Thus, well-known abbreviations such as Pb 95 and 98 and ON disappear.

Here are the new designations:

E5, E10 and E85 for essence (in a circle). Figures or figures are information on the maximum amount of ethanol present in the fuel

B7, B10 and XTL for diesel fuel (in the square). When the number or number determines the maximum amount of biodiesel in a given fuel, and the symbol XTL means unrefined diesel fuel

H2, CNG, LPG and LNG for gaseous fuels (in a diamond ). The abbreviations are hydrogen natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and LPG.
