Next week, the Senate will deal with the draft amendment from the government to the law on public-private partnership (PPP), which gives local governments skills to create paid parking areas in the city center. In principle, these areas should help increase the turnover of parking spaces in the most populous cities. And in the long run – to reduce traffic jams. In practice, their introduction can mean a dramatic increase in fees.

Recall that urban areas will be able to create more 100,000 cities. residents. Parking rates in these must rise to 0.45%. minimum wage, which means we will pay close to 10 PLN for the first hour of parking. In "normal" areas, the rate will be 0.15%. minimum wage, just over 3 PLN. The next hours (in both zones) will be more expensive. The rate for the second may be at most 20%. higher than the first, and the third – at most 20 percent. higher than the second. There will also be tougher penalties for the absence of a ticket for the glass – it will not be PLN 50 for additional fees as currently, but 10%. minimum wage, and therefore more than 200 PLN.
However, it is a revolution that will wait. Article 3 of the draft, which introduces these principles, will only come into force one year after the publication of the law in the Journal of Laws. – This means that at the earliest at the end of the year 2019, the new business councils will be able to make decisions in the matter – says Agnieszka Kłąb of the capital, indicating that the discussion on this topic is premature . For now, the city – as part of the fight against traffic jams – invests in mass communication.
By the way, many cities speak in a similar tone. They come out, among other things assuming why expose to voters – also before parliamentary elections or later presidential elections (parties in big cities can attack in the countryside). And that the electoral marathon will last until 2020, the implementation of the parking revolution could be delayed even more than the proposed regulation.
