As reported Tuesday Commissioner Ewelina Wrona of the PAP, the Podkarpackie police press team, the figures were destroyed on Sunday. The losses were estimated at around 50,000 zł. The police are looking for vandalism.
The Alley of Saints, founded by a parish priest and parishioners, was installed in the parish church of Our Lady of the Snows in Zarzecze, near Nisko. The colored figures in epoxy resin are fixed on columns. They were dedicated to November 11th, the 100th anniversary of the reconquest of Poland's independence.
As Tuesday parish priest, PAP Jan Rokosz said, all the characters were 28, with two (St. Maximilian and St. Apostle Judah Tadeusz) in the church and three (Holy Family, St. John the Baptist and Saint Michael the Archangel) above the entrance door. In turn, in the alley of saints, 23 characters were placed outside the church, of which 22 were destroyed. Only a statue of St. Paul.
The priest added that according to the conversations with the parishioners, it seems that they wish that the fragments of surviving characters remain in the alley as a souvenir. But the alley will probably call the sacred Golgotha.
