Today, around 20:00, on 20 July, the first train of the Czech company Leo Express has crossed the Polish border. It is the first fully private long distance carrier on Polish tracks. It will run regularly between Prague and Krakow. Moves are made using Stadler Flirt units.

First Journey

The first Leo Express train to Poland started on July 20th of this year. at 16:10 from Prague. About 15 minutes later, he reached nearby Bogumin, and at around 20:20 he crossed the Czech-Polish border. After crossing the border from the speakers, the Polish national anthem was released

For Leo Express to enter the Polish tracks, it was necessary to obtain, among other things, permits allowing Use of the Flirt traction unit. This was to be published by the president of the Railway Transport Office.

They were received only on July 18, two days before the start of the trade trips. – Leo Express has met all the formal requirements for the launch of the Kraków – Praga rail link – said "RK". Although Flirty Stadler is well known in Poland, they have required some modifications to adapt the units to Polish conditions for the Czech market. We have written more about it here.

Holiday Schedule

The schedule of these vacations includes classes on the weekends. From Krakow to Prague, a private train will depart on Mondays and Saturdays, while from Prague to Krakow on Fridays and Sundays. The train will depart Krakow Główny at 05:04, from Katowice it will depart at 06:57 and reach its destination in Prague at 11:39. It will also stop at Skawina, Zator, Oświęcim-Dwory, Mysłowice, Tychy, Pszczyna and Zebrzydowice. On the Czech side, it serves several important centers and cities such as: Bohumín, Ostrava, Olomouc and Pardubice. The driving time from Krakow to Prague will be 6 hours 35 minutes, and from Katowice to Prague 4 hours 42 minutes. This is the fastest land connection available on this route – planes the carrier. When returning from Prague, the train will depart at 16:10. The arrival in Katowice was scheduled shortly after 9 pm and she arrived in Krakow at 11:19 pm. Ticket prices between the capital Krakow and Krakow start at 19 PLN. We know from the carrier that the average price of an economy class ticket from Krakow to Prague will oscillate around 60-80 PLN, from Katowice to Olomouc and about 35-45 PLN. Leo Express uses a system known to low-cost airlines. The sooner we buy a ticket, the less we will go.
