Putin met Sunday in Moscow with French President Emmanuel Macron. Macron's office said it wanted to make Europe's voice heard after the controversial NATO summit last week and before Putin's summit with US President Donald Trump
]. "The reasons to believe that we will overcome all the difficulties we have recently faced and we will embark on a positive development path."
The distance between France and Russia was motivated by Russia's actions in Ukraine and Syria. Macron's office said it was about topics he wanted to discuss with Putin.
