There is nothing to cheat. Extremely popular, Google Maps are not the best way to navigate smartphones, even if they search for interesting places, route or memorize important places. Other Android and iOS apps, such as Yanosik and Waze, have performed much better in this role.
Maps already warn against radars
Maps have always lacked some useful features for drivers. However, Google has developed other features that regularly reach the application. In January, he added the most awaited function: to warn of speed cameras.
The Internet giant, however, has limited the scope of its functions to a few selected markets and we have had to wait for warnings to be issued in Poland until May. Five months later, the first users started to receive the appropriate warnings on their smartphone. The icons – which you can see below – we also noticed:
Radars appeared in users in Poland photo: own screen
We tested the function by designing several examples of routes throughout Poland and, in each case, the radar icon appears in the application. For the moment, however, they are very small. Only two or three measurements of speed appear on the Warsaw-Lublin route. In addition, in some places – after having repaired the road – the radars have disappeared.
The function is probably tested with us. Google is not enough of a large database to show all the radars in Poland.
The maximum speed information is always missing
With the speed camera warning in January, Google introduced the maximum speed notification feature of a given section in only three countries. This information is already collected in its database, and then appear while driving in the lower left corner of the application. Unfortunately, we have not yet noticed the presence of this function in Poland. Probably – if it's introduced at all – we'll have to wait a little longer.
