The last days of July 1914. Ignacy Biernacki (Adam Cywka), owner of the Panorama and Photographer publishing house, who lives in Krakow, receives from the magistrate an order of 39. printing of official posters. He hopes to win a good job. Soon, the man and his family are disturbed by a man who, a quarter of a century earlier, has seduced his wife. Meanwhile, the first legionary troops leave the city. Among the soldiers is Jerzyk Raczek (Damian Kret), son of the baker and governor Biernacki (Maria Maj). Lala (Julia Rosnowska), the youngest daughter of Ignacy, loves her. His sister Marynia (Paulina Gałązka), however, was caught by the handsome Szymon Hasefer (Adrian Zaremba) when collecting money for the army. The oldest sister, Alina (Katarzyna Zawadzka), can not help but think of a man, an older Austrian, who gives lessons to the Polish language.
