One of the most interesting elements of the crazy concept design RS Vision, presented by Škoda at the autumn fair in Paris, was its interior. This prototype announced the upcoming arrival of a compact sedan from the Czech Republic, and it turned out that he did it literally. After all, after removing some of the cosmic additions and expensive materials, we saw what would happen in September – interior quite tasteful which is at the moment with all the technological innovations.
Škoda Scala will appear in Polish stores next year as a successor to Rapida. Relative to, the new model will more directly target the traditional hatchback like Ford Focus, Opel Astra or even Volkswagen Golf. The name of the model means staircase in Latin, which indicates the growing ambitions of this Czech producer.
You can see them better when the camera appears on the images. For the first time in Škoda a large, central, stand-alone screen with a 9.2-inch diagonal appears. It has the same size as the screen of the top version of the equipment and similar functions of Volkswagen Golf. Compared to the well-known menu of existing Škoda models, Scala will have several new options with the possibility of a remote system upgrade. The main designer of the brand Oliver Stefani, discussing this project with me, drew attention to the small shelf that precedes this screen. You can put your wrist on it, which will make it easier to define the right place on the screen. A simply smart solution for 2019.
The place of traditional clocks (at least in the highest versions of the equipment) has been replaced by hairsp; This in Scala is a little smaller than in golf (10.3 vs 12.3 inches), but still quite large and equipped with various features that increase the versatility of this solution.
The other buttons and the air conditioning panel are a development of what we already know about the current models of the brand. They advance in the meantime materials to be more stylish and practical without negative impact on the price of the new model.
Even before presenting photos of the interior of the Scala, Oliver Stefani announced that "the new Škoda will look more elegant. This does not mean that they will suddenly become luxurious or expensive because one does not necessarily go along with the other. "His intentions are reflected in this dashboard, which is a small step forward in the stylistic language of the brand, colors that attempt to introduce a bit of optimism into Škód's generally sad black cabins.
A new stylistic operation is constituted by the lateral air vents located on the door, which optically widen the cabin by its position. This impression is further reinforced by the pattern of the line separating these zigzag vents across the width of the dashboard. As Stefani tells me, these two solutions will also be used in the next Škoda models in the years to come.
The new era of Škoda booths promises promising. What will have to be offered by Scala will be already on December 6th, when the new sedan will be presented in all its splendor. You will find the report of this event on Autokulcie.
