Some of the trails in the Tatras like streams. Wet, slippery, dangerous

As we read on the Tatra National Park website, the conditions for hiking in its area are not favorable – the trails are wet, slippery, on sections of muddy forests. In places, streams run down the paths. In addition, the low ceiling limits visibility.

Intense rains and warnings

Due to heavy rains, the Mroźna cave was partially flooded – it is closed until further notice – the Tatra National Park was informed in a tourist communication. Park authorities also recommend keeping track of the weather situation.

The difficult situation is visible on the record that Lucka Farkašová, one of the Slovak tourists, sent to the tvnmeteo.pl editorial team. The approach along the yellow trail of the Little Cold Water Valley to the Five Spis Ponds Valley has turned into a precipitated torrent. This really surprised the tourists and caused them a lot of difficulties. The flow of water was so fast that it was much more difficult for them to get around the track. The trail seems to have suddenly begun to sink

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management also warns of intense rainfall. For the Tatra region, the first and second degree weather warnings apply. The Institute also issued hydrological warnings of the second and third degrees

As dangerous in Slovakia

On the Slovak side, there is also a threat of high water level in the rivers. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Service issued first and second degree hydrological warnings for seven municipalities: Liptovský Mikuláš, Poprad, Kezmarok, Lubová, Twardoszyn, Namiestów and Čadca. Slovak synoptics predict that time will be serious until Thursday at 7 pm
