At Thursday's press conference, Infrastructure Minister, Andrzej Adamczyk, informed that drivers can use the new pilot scheme to charge fees on the licensed section of the A1 from July 4th. The system, based on the recognition of license plates as part of a special application, must work automatically and allow a smooth crossing of the motorway. Currently, it is being tested on the Rusocin section in Nowa Wieś

– it's a simple, safe and fast solution that will increase comfort and shorten the tax payment time, thus reducing congestion on the doors during the most intense period

Advantages of the AmberGo system

The system, called AmberGo, requires the installation of a special application (autopay transport) and the addition of 39; a vehicle in it and a link to the payment card. Through this, at the door, the system will recognize the registration numbers, lift the barrier and charge the account with the appropriate amount for the trip. A traditional ticket will still be required if the traveler wishes to leave the highway earlier.

Wojciech M ± kinia, vice president of GTC SA, concessionaire of the A1 motorway, argued that thanks to AmberGo, the flow of doors it can be twice as large as now. Currently, the traditional gate has a capacity of 300 vehicles per hour

Cork will always be equal to the free crossings

The Ministry and the motorway concessionaire always maintain the possibility of lifting barriers on the road in case of big traffic jams . A withdrawal of the charging of all vehicles for a maximum duration of 30 minutes will be possible if the average waiting time for payment of the fee at the toll collection point in Nowa Wieś or Rusocin exceeds 25 minutes. In exceptional circumstances, the withdrawal of taxes may take up to 45 minutes [19659002] For the time when the barriers are lifted, the costs are compensated by the dealer Krajowy Fundusz Drogowy. In 2017 traffic jams at A1 entrances cost PLN 3 million 390,000.

Small increases for A1

A slightly worse message for drivers is that tolls are rounded – for Rusocin- Nowa Wieś from 29.9 PLN to 30 PLN, for the Rusocin-Turzno section from 26.7 PLN to 27 PLN and for the Rusocin-Lubicz section from 27.9 PLN to 28 PLN . Similar rights apply in the second direction.
