A few days ago, Bertus Servaas sent a letter to councilors requesting additional co-financing for the team with a record amount of PLN 4.5 million. In the last two years, the city has helped the Polish champions and paid 2 million zlotys
– In 2016, the president of Servaas asked for the first time a support of two million, saying that it is the only way to save money. is an exceptional situation. In 2017, it was the second time and the existence of the club depended on these 2 million. I have prepared this resolution with the obvious protest of the accounting departments. We have now saved 2.5 million for VIVE. In February, the club authorities asked us to remove them immediately. So everything was supposed to be good. We have now received a request for 4.5 million – comments President Wojciech Lubawski at a press conference.
PGE President VIVE Kielce explained in a conversation with WP SportoweFakty: – I do not put the city against the wall. The only question is whether we want to maintain the level of handball as now. Starting today and until June 30, 2019, we need 5 million zlotys. Normally, each year we received $ 2.5 million. Elections happen, in October the authorities can change, so we prefer to do it now.
President Wojciech Lubawski clearly stated: – The city does not have this money. I've met the president several times and I've made it clear that he's counting on something, it's only after the biannual settlement and we can talk to a few hundred thousand maximum. He was aware of that, and yet he said that if we want a club in Kielce, we have to give 4.5 million zlotys. I do not dare to take such an amount to other entities.
What is the next step with VIVE? As announced by Servaas, despite about 5 million debts, the future of the team is not threatened. – The bankruptcy of the club is out of the question. We will just have to adjust the sport level to the budget – he said a few days ago.
