The death trial of Igor Stachowiak. A former police officer assured him that the electric shock was not a distraction for him

One of the accused police officers, Łukasz Rz, was the first to testify. The other three defendants did not appear in court, but despite this, the judge decided to continue the trial. The accused described in detail the events of May 15, 2016, when Igor Stachowiak was arrested by the police in the Wroclaw market

He repeatedly pointed out that there was no contact with the detainee, that he did not respond to orders, that he did not want to introduce his identity . At the command – as the accused testified – was taken, because the audit in the police system confirmed that Stachowiak was actually wanted by the police

As the says the former police officer that greater damage may be detained as a result of a fall after using it, rather than as a result of an electric shock itself. Therefore, before using him, he and the other officers tried to "bring him to the ground floor". In addition, as he argued, the stun gun causes only temporary discomfort. Therefore, to defeat Stachowiak, he used a stun gun, not a stick or a gas. In his opinion, the stick and the gas are more invasive than the stun gun.

Łukasz Rz. he also argued that the words he had uttered, that we heard on the recordings revealed and that preceded the use of a stun gun in the bathroom of the police station – a "Repetition of entertainment" – could have been misinterpreted. The accused assured him that the electric shock was not a distraction for him and it did not give him any pleasure. As he has just explained, he often uses this term.

The testator also pointed out that his physical strength and his stun gun were also used because Stachowiak was aggressive towards the police. Two of them complained of serious injury and examination of the police revealed numerous bruises

Łukasz Rz. he also argued that he was aware that he should not use a stun gun for handcuffed people. However, as he himself expressed, he did it in a higher state of necessity

The policeman was already explaining his explanation by a description of an unsuccessful attempt resuscitation of Igor Stachowiak by police officers. The accused does not plead guilty. During the trial, he stated that he would answer questions from the prosecutor, the court and his lawyer. However, he will not answer the questions put by the auxiliary prosecutors, that is to say the parents of Igor Stachowiak and their representatives.
