The fall of the shipyard Szczecin? So CEOs discuss and volleyball players look for new clubs

[ad_1]

We are currently witnessing the disintegration of Stocznia Szczecin, a club with no history or brand that is recognized in the country, but which quickly won fans in our region and, above all, increased its hopes. For what is the name of the transfer of Bartosz Kurek, Łukasz Żygadła, Mateja Kazijski or the renowned coach in Europe – Radostin Stojczewa and announcements of the fight for medals and European cups.

Only now is the shipyard team built for a loan and its future built on a preliminary contract with a giant sponsor. When he retired, everything fell like a house of cards.

The club does not hide the fact that the sports project was at a standstill and that it fell to the sidelines. Volleyball players are looking for new clubs, because after three months, the arrears can resolve their contracts, and discussions between the club's governors and the sponsor bring no results. And on the volleyball players from Szczecin, the demand is strong. The club did a great job in the summer in terms of transfers and built a powerhouse. However, she failed to maintain it.

We managed to save the situation a week ago and after discussions with the players, the team went to the league meeting in Katowice (lost 1: 3). However, from now on, the club has not changed much, the arrears are still not regulated and the situation will not be normalized quickly. The shipyard may lose not only its biggest stars, such as Kurek or Żygadło, but also smaller players, who are in the club longer and have worked on their current position in the Premier League. This will mean in practice the withdrawal of matches from the Plus League and possibly the disintegration of the club itself.

Players require movements from the club's current sponsor, but these are not yet visible. Volleyball players have stated some time ago that they would be happy to stay in Szczecin, of course subject to significant changes in the club, namely a significant infusion of funds. It will not succeed. Club authorities do what they can. However, the Polish market is not rich in companies capable of investing large sums in a club that has not been fully managed in recent years.

The circle is closing and it is difficult to find a way out of this difficult situation. On Tuesday afternoon, there was another round of discussions between the sponsor's representatives and the club's representatives. Neither party receives calls and it is difficult to get clear messages on the subject. Soon, the club will declare bankruptcy or present a real financial recovery plan. In this last solution, however, almost no one believes in it.

This would be bad news for fans and for the entire volleyball community in the region. It seems that this year's shipyard Swordfish is a club that will be part of the league for many years, following in the footsteps of Chemik Police and collecting national championship medals and playing in Europe. Meanwhile, even the shipyard match with Trefl Sopot on Thursday will no longer take place. The club may simply have no one to play.
