The government is preparing the "School Canteen" program. Hot meals in each school, longer breaks

The authors of the project are the Ministries of Education and Family, Labor and Social Policy. The goal is to support local governments in opening dining rooms and canteens. According to the Department of Education, the program will have a significant impact on improving student health and is part of the planned strengthening of the school's role in care

The Program must be implemented in two stages. From 1 September 2019, primary schools will have to have a dining room where students will eat meals brought from home. Hot dishes in schools must appear two years later. The use of a meal at school would be voluntary and partly payable – we read on the website of "Rzeczpospolita".

The change of breaks will also change. The court will last a minimum of ten, a long – same 40 minutes. Planned solutions cause uncertainty for self-government representatives. – The problem will not only money, but also the room. After extending primary school for two years, there is no room for the gym in many institutions, and children learn in the hallways. I do not know where else to press the cafeteria – said Marek Wójcik, an expert from the Association of Polish Cities, in an interview with the newspaper

According to data from CSOs, canteens are in 66 percent. from 13,517 elementary schools. The MEN does not want to specify how much it will cost to run the program. Starting to work on it, it is estimated that the adaptation of the infrastructure alone represents an expenditure of about 1 billion PLN
