How much will the PlayStation 5 cost?
I will immediately point out that we do not yet know the price of PlayStation 5 – and we can only apologize for that. And if Sony has drawn the consequences of their misadventures, they probably realize that, whatever their strength, exaggerations of the next generation can cost them dearly. The PlayStation 2 was a hit, but starting at $ 499, the PlayStation 3 (and the 60GB version – from 599) had a very difficult start. That's why they took a little humility with PlayStation 4 and released equipment from $ 399 – in Europe, 399 euros. In Poland, we had to pay about 1800 zlotys for the creation of the console. Apparently a lot, but on the other hand – talk about equipment for years, so enthusiastic players have swallowed the expense. Others (including me) waited several months and bought a lot cheaper. But when asked about the new Sony console, the designer Mark Cerny approached evasively the issue of the price of the device. As we learned from this conversation: PlayStation 5 must be a powerful machine with an SSD. Therefore, we are talking more and more often about the price of the device, which can not start at 399 euros, or even at 499 euros – and 599 euros. And if the darkest scenario works, we should pay around 3,000 PLN in Poland.
Me: There is always a general range of introductory prices. Will the next console conform to this range?@cerny: I believe we may be able to publish it to a SRP [suggested retail price] that will appeal to players in light of its advanced features.

On the one hand, a lot. Comparisons with the previous generation and how it would be more expensive would not end. On the other side: it's gear that will probably serve the players for at least a good few years, so … I would probably choose to pay more for the gear I'm sure of. The use of consumer electronics products at an alarming rate should also be considered. In 2013 (the same as PlayStation 4 debuted), Apple's flagship product was the iPhone 5, whose prices began at $ 649. The cheapest variant of Apple's flagship smartphone is an expense of $ 999. It's much more expensive, but users buy it anyway – although they probably trade it much faster than the console. Galaxy Fold will come out of the 1980 dollar ceiling – but this is a gadget for now, and Sony – we know – will depend on the rapid creation of a database of loyal players.
