The project presented to the Sejm by the Polish People's Party assumes that any employed person with at least one child under the age of 15 would have the right to reduce statutory working hours to seven hours a day. If both parents work, the beneficiary of the program could be one of them.
– We want to change the approach of the Polish state in an even better way for Polish families. For two years, the government has not taken any new initiatives to improve the functioning of families, their financial security, but also the reconciliation of their professional life and their family life – said party leader Władysław Kosiniak- Kamysz at a conference in Sejm.
People explain this for too long, during the day, small children spend in institutions such as nurseries or kindergartens. The first bill of this type was submitted to the Sejm in 2017, but was not approved by the parliamentary majority.
Entrepreneurs criticize
However, the idea has been criticized by the business world. They suggest that this type of amendment will increase the costs of employment and will have a negative impact on the functioning of the Polish economy.
– The implementation of this solution will have a negative impact on the sector. In the case of large companies, this may involve hiring tens or even hundreds of new employees, which will increase the cost of employment. That would be another factor, aside from the increase in electricity prices, which will cause an increase in production costs – explains Piotr Lisiecki, chairman of the Boryszew Group, in an interview with Puls Biznesu.
Others argue that this provision will hinder the operation of posted workstations and will reduce work time by one hour de facto means an extra month of vacation.
PSL wants to maintain, but also improve "500 more"
This is not the first social policy statement on the part of peasants. On Monday, on Twitter, Kosiniak-Kamysz criticized the ideas of some OP politicians suggesting that people with permanent status as unemployed could lose their right to receive the "500 plus" benefit (these words were corrected by the following):

The PSL also suggested "500-plus" program facilities for those who would have slightly exceeded the income limit (and thus automatically lose their right to receive benefits). The project – called "zloty for 1 zloty" – would consist in the fact that after crossing the income threshold (800 zlotys per person), for example, for a zloty, a mother who raises a child alone would not receive 500 zlotys.
