The tragedy of Jaroszowice on the Skawa River – a group of canoeists crashed. The 32-year-old man was revived

The people of Tarnowskie Góry, aged between 24 and 36, made a Saturday canoe trip to Skawa. On his demanding section of Jaroszowice (municipality of Wadowice), an accident occurred. Several kayaks have returned to the water level. The people who threw themselves into the water and, because of the strong current of the river, they could not get to the coast on their own.

Emergency services quickly release almost all rafting participants from the water. The problem, however, turned out to be hauled to shore on one of the women who got stuck in the middle of the river. She sat down on the stone and waited for help. The water level was too high.

– On the Świnna Poręba dam, the flow of water was stopped to lower its level in the river. As a result, the woman managed to be transported to the ground – says Agnieszka Patek, police spokeswoman in Wadowice.

A woman does not need medical care. Five people were injured. The most serious injury suffered a 32-year-old man, the organizer of the trip.

– On-site services undertook resuscitation. Later, the man was taken to Wadowice Hospital – says Agnieszka Patek.

The other four wounded suffered only bruises, their lives are not in danger. Rescuers checked the health status of all rafting participants. The rest does not need transportation to the hospital.

The rescue operation is over.
