Michał Kwiatkowski has never hidden that he dreams of winning the Tour of Poland. This art has not yet succeeded, although in 2012 it was close – "Kwiato" lost only five seconds overall with Moreno Moser.

Sky competitor decided to try again – he will be starting the national race on Friday. His decision is very entertaining for fans in our area, where four stages will take place.

On Sunday, the peloton will travel from Tarnowskie Góry to Katowice on Monday from the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów to Zabrze, Tuesday from Jaworzno to Szczyrk and Wednesday from Wieliczka to Bielsko-Biała. The Saturday stage will take place in Krakow, and the last two in Zakopane and the surrounding area.

The profile of the road is certainly suitable for Kwiatkowski. The mixture of flat and mountainous stages allows him to count on a very good result. As much as he showed his strength in the Tour de France, where he did a great job for the best cyclists of the event, Gerainta Thomas and Christopher Froome.

– I make my participation in the Polish race dependent on how I feel after returning from France – said the Pole earlier. As you can see the atmosphere, the fourth place in the penultimate stage, which was the individual time trial, proved to be good … At the overall standings at the line of D & D Arriving in Paris he took 49th place, but the group's bosses point out that he has accomplished all the tasks.

Race director Czesław Lang announced that the current edition of the Tour of Poland has a chance to attract a galaxy of stars. And indeed it happened. On the starting list, apart from Kwiatkowski, there is Thibaut Pinot, Fabio Aru and Simon Yates. Also a winner of 2017, Dylan Teuns, who was ahead of Rafał Majka by two seconds. For all stars, TdP is a very important test before Vuelta and Espana. Majka himself has not yet announced his plans to come.

This is Kwiatkowski's fourth start to the Tour of Poland. In addition to the second place mentioned above he was 34th in 2016, and once, in 2014, as world champion, he did not reach the finish line because of the disease.

– Michał is actually a child of the Tour of Poland – says Czesław Lang about Kwiatkowski. – Every start is a great event for cycling fans in our country.

TdP emissions will be realized by TVP. The first stage of Silesia will finish Sunday after 19:00 with a traditional sprint at Spodek in Katowice.
