Although the debt of the Krakow Vistula to the city due to the use of the Reymonta Street Stadium lasts for years, the fact that the case could already lead to the white star outside Krakow has never been the case. In June, Marzena Sarapata's president said in interviews that Wisła is negotiating the terms of the stadium's new lease agreement with the city. It notes, however, that it has received assurances that if the negotiations did not end thirty days before the start of the first league, the contract would be signed for the time being under the old conditions, which would allow to the Vistula to comply with PZPN license conditions. As you know, on July 2, the city of Krakow announced that it would not sign a new contract for debts owed to the municipality by Wisła. Currently, the city is of the opinion that Wisła has to pay 4.9 million PLN to sign the contract.
There is reason to believe that even such a categorical attitude could not be expected even in the club itself. At the Krakow City Council Budget Committee meeting on Tuesday, Krzysztof Kowal, director of the Sports Infrastructure Management Board, admitted that his unit had promised the club to sign a stadium rental contract. – We made a promise with the reservation that they would repay the arrears. It was a conditional promise that they could show a document in PZPN thirty days before the first match –
We managed to get the documents that Wisła got from ZIS at the end of June. There was no information on them that the signing of a city stadium contract required a refund of 4.9 million zlotys. The city provisionally declares the conclusion of a lease with effect from 1 July 2018 and ensures that the stadium will meet the licensing requirements of the first league at that time:
In a document sent to Wisła the same day, ZIS informs Wisła, that he has prepared and presented to the approval of the draft order of President Jacek Majchrowski on the purpose of the stadium to rent in Wisła for the next three years.
The documents clearly showed that for the arrangements to take effect, the city president must accept them, which ultimately did not happen. According to the correspondence exchanged between the ZIS and the club, one week before the decision to suspend the signing of the new agreement, there was no indication that Wisła should immediately repay nearly five million arrears. The issue of signing the new agreement has been virtually addressed, but it has been blocked at the highest level of the city. Although the debts did not manifest themselves overnight, such a deep crisis in relations with the city occurred in a very unexpected way. The current situation is in deadlock and there are many indications that Wisła will have to rent a stadium in another city.
