It's time to start the eighth edition of the Women's Ski Jumping World Cup. The best paratrooper of the next four days will participate in the Lysgaardsbakken hill complex (HS98 and HS140) in Lillehammer. Thursday, training and qualifying for the Friday competition are scheduled. At first we will see three Polish representatives.

The inauguration of the new season attracted Lillehammer all the main players of the last edition of the World Cup. Initially, the Crystal Ball defender, Olympic champion and favorite main host – Maren Lundby – could not miss. Sara Takanashi, silver medalist at the Pyongchang Olympic Games, Katharina Althaus, is one of her main rivals. Japanese Yuki Ito, Slovenian Ema Klinec, Austrian Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and German Juliane Seyfarth will also perform in Lillehammer.

Representatives from Poland will also participate in the first weekend of the season. Coach Marcin Bachleda brought three cyclists to Norway – Kamila Karpiel, Kinga Rajda and Anna Twardosz. On Saturday night, competitors will qualify for the HS140's facilities, including the first start on the big hill as part of the World Cup.

The start of the World Cup edition will consist of a record 27 competitions (25 individual and two in teams), ten of which will be held on big ski jumps. The skaters will fight for the first time for the crystal ball on Titisee-Neustadt and Premanon objects. In addition, they will participate in March in the first women's edition of Raw Air and the Russian tournament Blue Bird.

As in the previous year, the inaugural weekend of the women's season takes place as part of the mini-cycle "Lillehammer Triple". The triumph of the event will be selected based on the sum of the points obtained at the three competitions at the Lysgaardsbakken facility. Last winter, the winner was Katharina Althaus, who doubled Maren Lundby and Sara Takanashi.

Thursday in Lillehammer, official training and qualifications for the Friday competition on the normal hill were planned. There are 62 players from 17 countries on the starting list.

The record holder of Lysgaardbakken HS98 is Ema Klinec. The Slovenian representative at the 2013 World Cup competition slipped to a distance of 104.5 meters.

The rivalry may be hampered by the southeast wind which, during training and qualification, will gradually increase from 3 to 5 m / s. The temperature of the air must be + 1 ° C. Snowfall is also expected.

The start of the official training is scheduled at 19:00. Shortly after, qualifying for the Friday competition will begin.
