A Maryland police chief said seven adults were injured during the shootout at a child's birthday party a few miles southeast of the capital.

Prince George County police officer Nicholas Clayton told the Associated Press that the shooting had occurred Saturday night near the areas of Camp Springs and Morningside. Chief of Police, Hank Stawinski, said at a press conference that about 12 people had attended the birthday party of a 2-year-old child when a person had fired shots in the rally.

Police said that three of the seven people injured with guns were seriously injured, but Stawinski had claimed that they were supposed to survive. All seven are between 18 and 20 years old.

The chief did not disclose information about the suspect, who is still on the run. He says that there may have been some words exchanged before the shoot.
