Police arrest man and woman in Westland after murder of teenage girl on east side of Detroit

STRAIT – Police arrested man and woman in Westland after 16-year-old girl was shot and killed in Detroit, according to officials.

Detroit Police said the teenager had an argument with a 22-year-old man around 8:25 p.m. Sunday at a house in the 9100 block of Beaconsfield Street on the east side of Detroit.

The man left the building with two people, officials said. Immediately afterwards, a gunshot was fired into the house and the 16-year-old girl was fatally injured, authorities said.

The medical authorities took the girl to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Officials said the 22-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested around 11 a.m. Monday at a house in the 33000 block of Alberta Avenue in Westland.

Authorities said they were still looking for a 23-year-old woman who was considered a person of interest. They think she might have information about the shooting.
