Arkansas police chief resigns after taking heat for ‘dangerous’ social media posts calling for ‘Death to all Marxist Democrats’ and violence against ‘traitors’ who deceived the president Trump in his bid for reelection, according to a report.

Police Chief Marshall Lang Holland’s resignation on Saturday follows a strong rebuke from city mayor Kevin Elliott condemning comments on the conservative messaging site Speak, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

“When it’s over and Trump will be president for 4 more years,” Holland wrote in a message, according to a screenshot tweeted by KATV News journalist Viktoria Capek. “Don’t go to sleep. Remember what those bastards Marxist Democrats tried to do.

“When you see one in public, don’t give them any peace,” Lang wrote. “Throw them water in restaurants. Push them off the sidewalks. Never let them forget that they are traitors and have no right to live in this Republic after what they have done.

“Death to all Marxist Democrats,” said another article. “Don’t take any prisoners, don’t leave any survivors !!”

Holland also posted an illustration of former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in orange jail gear, with the caption: “I pray everyone on this photo are hung on the gallows, drawn and quartered. “

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Saturday called the comments “dangerous,” the Democrat-Gazette said.

The mayor’s office said it had neither fired nor called for the chief’s resignation, but released the letter condemning the comments.

“The Marshall community does not in any way support or condone intimidation or threats of violence against anyone of any political opinion,” Elliott wrote in the letter. “We condemn him! We are a community that humbly works to build a bright future for ALL of our citizens, whether long-time residents or newcomers.

Elliott said Lang apologized when the two met and resigned from his post.

Lang is a decorated former MP for Searcy County and has worked as a police advisor in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Democrat-Gazette reported.

He could not be reached immediately for comment.
