MANDAN, N.D. – Mandan police are investigating the deaths of four people in a company on 32nd Avenue Southeast, just off Memorial Highway, early Monday morning.
They say that the public is not in danger, as they work to identify the victims and deal with the crime scene.
It was a long day for the forces of order here at RJR Maintenance and Management in Mandan. What began as a typical medical call at 7:30 am was transformed into a lot more once they arrived at the scene.
Mandan police said they were shocked by what she had discovered upon arriving at the workplace: the bodies of three men and one woman. They say that there is no suspect at the moment.
"These four people did not do it themselves," said Mandan Police Chief Jason Ziegler.
Ziegler says that they are actively looking for a suspect, but that the public is not in danger at the moment, considering how the crime scene is confined.
Throughout the day, people who were going into the building and looking to pay their rent and make guided tours to find a rental were surprised at what they had discovered.
"I came here because no one was answering the phone," said Suzette Wall.
Ziegler says it's a rare type of crime scene, but does not specify what it means.
"We try to enter and process the scene, it's a pretty big crime scene, so it will not be easy for us to get in and do it quickly. So, as soon as we will have their information, be happy to share it, "said Ziegler.
He says at this point, they do not release a delay or murder weapon because it's an active investigation.
Police are waiting for autopsies from the medical examiner's office to confirm the cause of death.
