Police launch arson probe into Beyonce’s mansion in New Orleans

Police are investigating an arson attack at a New Orleans mansion owned by musical artists Beyoncé and Jay-Z, The New Orleans Advocate and other media reported.

The alarm fire at the vacant house, located in the Tony Garden District, broke out on Wednesday evening and was quickly put out by around 20 firefighters. No one was injured in the fire.

According to the lawyer, the police received reports of a suspicious person who was spotted in the neighborhood shortly before the fire broke out. Investigators found books in the kitchen oven and a gasoline container in the house.

City records show the house was purchased in 2015 for $ 2.6 million by a shell company that has the same mailing address as Parkwood Entertainment, Beyonce’s management company, the attorney reported.

The 15,000-square-foot, 3-story Spanish Baroque building was built in 1926 as a Presbyterian church, whose founding pastor was admitted to head the Ku Klux Klan JC Barr, the Advocate reported. The building was later used as a ballet school.

A neighbor told the Lawyer that he had not seen any activity in the house for the past two years.

Police and fire officials as well as an officer from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on the scene Thursday to investigate the damage to the house, WWL-TV reported Channel 4.

A spokesperson for Beyoncé told the lawyer he was unaware that there had been a fire in the house.
