WASHINGTON – A new poll suggests that Texas, a traditionally conservative state, could become a battleground in the 2020 presidential election.

Former vice president, Joe Biden, holds 48% and President Donald Trump, 44%, according to a new poll released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University. In addition, the president is stuck in too close clashes with six other presidential candidates for the 2020 Democratic presidency.

According to the survey, Trump is within the margin of error, or just above this margin, against these six candidates: Trump is 46% compared to Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren at 45%; Trump at 47% while Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is at 44%; Trump at 48% compared to the 45% of the former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke; Trump at 46% vs. 44% for South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg; Trump at 47% while California Senator Kamala Harris has 43%; and Trump at 46% compared to the former mayor of San Antonio Texas, Julian Castro at 43%.

The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points. Quinnipiac University polled 1,159 Texan voters from May 29 to June 4.

The Democrats followed one another in Texas after O 'Rourke's competitive run against Senator GOP Ted Cruz in the 2018 medium-term match.

Although the former Democratic MP lost to Cruz (50.9% to 48.3%), O'Rourke was the best Democrat in a state Senate race since 1988. In addition, several state counties were overthrown in the 2018 democratic elections, including Tarrant. County, which includes Fort Worth and some of the surrounding suburbs of Fort Worth and Dallas.

Since then, a number of Democratic presidential candidates have campaigned on several occasions in Texas, including Senses Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris, O & Rourke and Castro. The new vote comes as Trump seeks to broaden the electoral map during his re-election campaign in 2020. The president, who won in 2016 in part because of his success in the Rust Belt, is preparing this time to target and seize opportunities in New Mexico, Nevada and New Hampshire, according to Politico.

Among Democrats and Democrat voters in the Quinnipiac poll, Biden is leading the broad 2020 primary group with 30%. O & # 39; Rourke has 16%, Sanders 15% and Warren 11%. Harris and Castro are at 4% and Buttigieg at 3%.

Of the 407 Democrats and Democratic voters polled, there is a margin of error of plus or minus 5.8 percentage points.

Despite OW Rourke's support among the Texas Democrats in relation to the rest of the 2020 Democratic primary group, a majority of Democratic and leaning Democrats in the state want to see the old Congressman standing against Senator John Cornyn.

According to the survey, 60% of these voters said that they would prefer O 'Rourke to run against Cornyn in 2020 rather than run for president.

The Quinnipiac survey also revealed that Cornyn's job approval rate is 44%, with 33% of Texas voters disapproving of the work he's doing in Congress. By comparison, Cruz's position is 50% approved by state voters, while 42% disapprove of Cruz's work.
