Today, Nestron – a hugely popular Singaporean cottage maker – unveiled its latest competitor in the growing market: the $ 98,000 Cube Two X smart home.
The new model is an upgrade to the original Cube Two, Nestron’s most popular unit.
The company has seen continued success throughout COVID-19. In December 2020, Nestron’s Choco Toh marketing team called Nestron a “global phenomenon” and at one point, the company’s website crashed due to an increase in visits and sales. ‘extremely overwhelming popularity’.

This summer, amid a booming public interest, Nestron began shipping its AI-powered mini-homes overseas to the UK.

But the UK isn’t its biggest market: more than 70% of Nestron’s customers currently reside in the US, Toh told Insider in an email interview.

To tackle the growing US market, Nestron will begin “to enter the US market very soon with its own distribution,” Toh said.
And the company is already planning to ship its mini-homes to customers in places like Tennessee, New York and Canada.
“We still receive a lot of [customer] inquiries… and it’s constantly increasing, ”Toh said, noting that most of the inquiries are for his Cube-based mini-homes.
At $ 98,000, the updated Cube Two X (C2X) is more expensive and larger than its popular $ 52,000 predecessor Cube Two (C2).

The C2 measures 263 square feet, while the refreshed C2X is almost 377 square feet.
This makes the C2X the largest small house in the Nestron range.
Wanting a smaller, bigger house might sound ironic, but customer demand for a larger, more customizable C2 prompted the Nestron team to create the C2X, according to Toh.
Now let’s take a look inside the C2X units.
Like other Cube Series homes, the C2X’s design was inspired by “elements of science fiction and futuristic spaceships,” Toh said.
Unlike previous Cubes, the new tiny house has two floor plan options: the first with one bedroom and the second with two sleeping areas.
The one-bedroom unit can sleep up to three people, while the two-bedroom house can sleep up to four.
Both layouts have an entrance hall, living room, kitchen and dining room, bathroom, at least one bedroom, and several large windows that keep the little house from feeling cramped.
But only the one-bedroom layout has an additional skylight and double-door refrigerator. The two-bedroom C2X has a single-door refrigerator instead.
Otherwise, both are ‘move in ready’ with basic amenities and furnishings.
This includes the living room, which has a sofa bed with pillows, a projector instead of a TV, and storage furniture.
The bedroom is also fully furnished with a bed set, storage items like a closet and shelf, and a table.
Meanwhile, the common kitchen and dining room have amenities such as an electric cooker with extractor hood, a refrigerator …
… A dining table and wall screen that doubles as a small entertainment center and smart home monitor.
Meanwhile, the bathroom has all the classic furnishings, such as a shower, washing machine and sink.
Some toiletries – especially the toilet and mirror – can also be upgraded to be “smart.”
This upgrade turns an ordinary mirror into a voice and touch-activated unit that can control home functions, check personal calendars, and more, according to Toh.
In addition to specific smart furniture, Nestron is also currently developing an artificial intelligence assistant named “Canny”.
Eventually, the AI system will be able to perform tasks such as brewing your morning coffee.

The house also has motion detectors inside the wardrobes and under the beds to help reduce electricity use.
Nestron has already started making the futuristic Cube Two X and will start shipping early versions early next year.
