Porsche pits the Taycan Turbo against the 911 GT3 RS and the 911 GT3 Cup: Track & Drag

The Porsche 911 is arguably one of the most iconic sports cars of all time, if not. Time will certainly tell if die-hard Porsche fans, as well as fans of all iconic gasoline-powered sports cars, will eventually flock to electric cars.

First, automakers need to prove that electric vehicles are the future. They cannot withhold them, hide them, or limit their production and sales. Instead, they must embrace them. They have to tell their fans the truth, EVs are just better.

Porsche deserves major kudos for doing just that on its official YouTube channel. It pits the fully electric Porsche Taycan against two top-of-the-range variants of the legendary 911: the 911 GT3 RS and the 911 GT3 Cup. We see these cars competing on the winding track and on the drag track. By the way, we would also like to point out which model Porsche chose to feature on the front page of its official US website: The Porsche Taycan, “Soul, electrified”.

On paper, both variants of the 911 have an impressive time of around 3 seconds from zero to 60 mph. Meanwhile, Porsche claims its electric Taycan Turbo S can hit the target in just 2.6 seconds with Launch Control, although we know it has beaten that time numerous times.

In the video above, Porsche chooses to showcase the Taycan Turbo, with its 3 second time of zero to 60 mph, rather than the Turbo S. This puts the gasoline 911s and the electric Taycan on a par. However, it also means that whatever the results, Porsche has a faster car that drops this one.

That said, we’re not giving any spoilers here. You will need to watch a short video to learn more about the results.
