Porsche presents a new electric concept car

We can have missed the 2021 New York Auto Show, but in Germany, it is still full speed for IAA, which moves this year to Munich from Frankfurt. There, we’ll see a new Porsche concept car, the brand announced on Monday. All we know is that it will be an electric vehicle and the photo above shows its headlight.

The flagship looks a lot like the design of the Porsche Taycan, but the way the brand has described this concept car doesn’t just point to another sedan or SUV. Instead, the company referred to motorsport and mentioned that sport is the “toughest testing ground for engineering innovations on the way to series production.” So it could be a concept focused on motorsport, or it could be a new vehicle influenced by motorsport.

The fastest instinctive association is the 718. For a while, Porsche teased an electric vision for the 718 Cayman and Boxster. It is possible that we will see this concept car preview such a car in the future, but again, this is far from confirmed.

We’ll have to wait and see what Porsche has up its sleeve, but the company’s first EV, the Taycan, it’s so cool. An electric sports car can also be fine.
