Today, friends. You are about to witness the dawn of a new era for Porsche, while the sports car brand based in Zuffenhausen jumps in the train of electric vehicles with the revelation of Taycan ready for production. Presented four years ago in the spectacular concept of Mission E, the German response to the Tesla Model S will split the cover in just a few hours and we will finally see the electric sedan without the deceptive camouflage.

The Taycan has been the subject of a huge campaign, but we still do not know much about the zero emission Porsche. In the meantime, we can view the latest batch of adjacent images, which shows the luxurious LED headlights that bear a striking resemblance to those of the 2015 demo car. Published on the company's French website , the images are part of a photo shoot that took place just before the big start and allow us to see more design details.

If history has taught us anything, it is that a road production model hardly fits the exciting design of a concept. Nevertheless, the Taycan sedan announces itself as a spectator judging by the latest images released by Porsche France, and we can observe the strong influences of the 911 on the sloping roofline.

Much of the futuristic interior has already been unveiled, with a plethora of touch screens at the front and back. The large, 16.8-inch curved screen that serves as a group of instruments comes with a 10.9-inch touch screen and a smaller 8.4-inch touch screen mounted lower on the center console. Even the front passenger can have a touch screen, while the optional four-zone automatic climate control comes with a 5.9-inch touch screen for people sitting at the rear.

As you probably already know, the EV of Stuttgart will initially be offered in high-end versions with double electric motor, AWD and full steering. It will have well over 600 horsepower in normal use, with an overboost function increasing power to over 700 hp and 1017 Newton-meters (750 lb-ft) for 2.5 seconds. The electric punch will give it supercar acceleration despite the fact that it will not really be a light car.

There are contradictory reports on the distance traveled, but the official word of Porsche is that it will be "more than 500 kilometers" (310 miles). However, we will have to wait for the full revelation to find out what this number really means because we do not know if it is based on NEDC or WLTP. If this is the first scenario, expect the actual range to be considerably lower, as NEDC is an overly optimistic optimist.

Everything will be revealed later today, so watch this space for everything Taycan. By 2020, the more practical and robust Taycan Cross Turismo forklift will follow, and Porsche has already announced that the next-generation Macan crossover will benefit from a purely electric variant.
