An unoccupied but marked police vehicle in Portland was set on fire and badly damaged on Saturday night, prompting authorities to open an arson investigation.
North Riding officers responded at around 8:20 p.m. to a report of a burning vehicle in a city fleet parking lot in the 800 block of North Graham Street. A fully marked Portland Police 2018 Ford Interceptor utility vehicle, which had been towed to the field for repairs after being involved in a minor accident, was found on fire, according to a press release.

Portland Fire and Rescue intervened and put out the flames.
The Portland Police Department released photos showing the interior of the heavily damaged vehicle. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but police say arson is suspected.
Police said an arson investigator also attended the scene and was conducting a follow-up investigation.
No arrests were made on Sunday, with police still scrambling to identify potential suspects.
In the days following Thanksgiving, Portland police also continued to investigate the vandalism at Lone Fir Cemetery, where a statue was knocked down and spray painted with the message: “Eat Colonizers.”

Police said the soldiers memorial was tipped over and painted between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. It was heavily damaged and has since been removed by the city.
