The Portland Trail Blazers turned down a business offer that would have sent CJ McCollum and several draft picks and picks to Philadelphia for disgruntled All-Star forward Ben Simmons, according to a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

According to Charania, the 76ers offered Simmons to McCollum, three first-round picks and three trades of picks, but the Blazers said no.

Simmons, upset with how he saw the way the 76ers treated him after his performance in the team’s Game 7 loss to Atlanta in the second round of the NBA Playoffs, said he didn’t would not show up to training camp, which started last week.

Simmons was absent from the camp and requested a trade. For much of the summer, Simmons has been linked with trade rumors with Portland for CJ McCollum or McCollum.

Neil Olshey, president of basketball operations for the Blazers, has made it clear he has no plans to trade Lillard. McCollum, on the other hand, is seen as more accessible, but only as part of a good deal.

Simmons would definitely be an interesting fit with the Blazers. He would provide defense, height (6ft 11in), playing ability, rebounds and elevate the team’s transition play. However, Simmons’ shooting issues are well documented.

McCollum, on the other hand, is one of the league’s top scorers and was on an All-Star trajectory for the first time in his career last season before a broken foot put him on the sidelines for 25 games.
