The president of the Energy Regulatory Body (ERSE), Maria Cristina Portugal, said Tuesday in Lisbon that there would be "news in early 2019" on the social tariff on the bottled gas.

On the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Portuguese Association of Natural Gas Companies, the manager said the assessment work was underway, noting that bottled gas problems "are newer skills. "for the regulator.

In June, Secretary of State for Energy Jorge Seguro Sanches announced in Parliament that the social gas tariff for bottles would remain in force in 2018.

"We are working with the municipalities to make the solidarity rate a reality this year, and a number of companies have already expressed interest in participating, they are available to support the solidarity rate, which we will concretise this year, certainly," he said. the sovereign, in parliament, in response to Socialist MP Hugo Costa.

The idea of creating a social tariff for bottled gas in the country, similar to the one that currently exists for economically vulnerable consumers of electricity and natural gas, had been launched by the PS in September 2017 to as a result of the price disparity between natural gas and Spain.

In October 2017, the then State Secretary for Energy announced that the social gas bottle intended for economically vulnerable families would be implemented this year as part of a pilot project in partnership with the Spanish oil company Cepsa.

This solidarity gas distribution network will have to be assimilated to the local authorities, that is to say that it will have to be projected outside the traditional distribution network, whereas the attribution criteria should be similar to the social tariff for electricity and natural gas, which currently benefits some 840,000 families.

Cepsa announced in late May that it was waiting for the government's approval to launch the pilot project for a social gas cylinder, but expects the measure to be implemented this year. , at a price of around 18 euros per bottle.
