This may not seem to be the case, but this plastic packaging is already over 38 years old.

The association Oceans without Plastic shared the latest discovery made on the beach of Santa Cruz to reinforce the time needed for the decomposition of plastic

A package of margarine A plant over 38 years old was found on the beach of Santa Cruz, in Torres Vedras. This packaging is more of a reminder of the time it takes for the plastic to disappear because the material found has almost no time mark.

A volunteer from the Oceans without Plastic Association was responsible for the discovery that was later shared by the association in social networks.

This is not the first time we find plastic packaging with several years and without major changes. Also in October, a pack of french fries was found on the same site, whose validity expired on May 10, 1992.

The decomposition of plastic is one of the major problems facing the world today. Even the European Parliament approved on 24 October the ban on the sale of plastic single-use products in the European Union from 2021.
