Detainee suspected of killing the owner of the Almada pastry

A The Judicial Police (PJ) arrested two men aged 19 and 23, suspected of having killed the owner of a pastry Almada last June.

In a statement sent to New, the PJ states that the detainees possess "solid evidence of the practice of crimes of criminal association, of qualified homicide, robbery, theft and damage".

The crime was committed last June. The duo attempted to storm a pastry shop in Cova da Piedade, resulting in the death of a 70 year old man.

In addition to this crime, the two men are suspected of a series of other robberies committed between April and June of this year in the district of Setúbal and for which they are indicted.

The authorities also explained that the modus operandi of this group was mainly through the use of stolen vehicles by the method of hijacking cars, one of which was eventually burned.

The detainees will now be present at the first judicial interrogation in order to apply the coercive measures deemed appropriate.
