The workers in Funchal, especially the traditional trade, will not go on strike at Christmas 2018. The decision was taken this afternoon by the Department of Bureaux and Trade Unions (SITAM), which however accused the city council of Funchal of Be blamed for the situation of real "atrocities" committed by some traders in this festive period.
As an example of the hours practiced that exceeded the closing of the doors at 10 pm or even more, with cases of workers compelled to remain in service until 3 am, the President of SITAM, Ivo Silva, said that the fault was the cause. the CMF does not impose scheduling restrictions, as was customary in other versions.
The decision not to go on strike, opting for a longer-term measure, also took into account the many traders, he says, who are compliant and who often, even with the opportunity to do business, maintain the just schedules with employees. In other words, a blockage at this stage would affect those who do more than the usual defaulters.
In a very critical speech delivered at a press conference held at the headquarters of SITAM in Rua da Queimada de Baixo, Ivo Silva said the decision is to make every effort to ensure that, in the upcoming municipal elections, the current council , the Confidence Coalition led by the PS, is not re-elected. It guarantees them to hold meetings with parties who wish to hear their concerns and, more radically, to indicate the meaning of the vote of their members in the 2021 authorities.
"We decided to intervene in the next municipalities to get this coalition out of the House," he said, leaving some examples of what it means to be a mediocre household: cleaning the streets and fell trees, etc. – with SITAM, will probably not accept it, because this problem of Christmas hours, which is legislated by the competence of local authorities, not even with the will expressed by the supervisory board (ACIF and ACS), led to concrete results. to stop the abuse.
